I was wondering how long it takes to do a thru hike, and what is the fastest that you could do it in (reasonably), I haven't seen an elevation map, so it's hard to tell how many miles you can do in a day. We were thinking of doing it in 10 day, with harder days doing less (12 miles), and easier days doing more (20 miles). What do you think? Thanks! Steve

Hi Steve, This sounds a little aggressive to me, but not impossible. We have a hiker doing our fund raiser at the end of this month into August. His total scheduled time on the trail is about 13 days. This will depend on your physical condition, age and weather conditions. Any one out there that has thru hiked the trail have any comments?

Hello Steve,
The fastest anyone has done the CT is nine days, a veritable sprint through the system. But it can be done in 10 if you commit to 15-plus miles per day and have good weather throughout much of the trip.
