We now have databooks for the trail available. Visit the trail store and check them out. www.cohostrail.org/moosemarket.htmlThe bootleg databook was compiled by Gregg and Stacy Boone and the regular databook was compiled by Parrot, The Wife and Stillwalking. The price on these databooks is strictly to cover costs for printing and shipping. Thanks to the above for their hard work in compiling this data.

This is a great idea and I can't wait to get a hold of the S-N Version.

How useful are the databooks for planning resupplies? Should I get the bootleg and the main data book. I'm hoping to get a few weeks this summer to start from the Canadian border and hopefully work my way to Vermont. I'd expect to make two stops along the CT (or one in the middle) and one at or near the end (to resupply to get me to I-93 and Franconia notch via Nancy Pond - not the AT) I know my re-supply stops on the AT and (if I get there) the LT, and I've reviewed the list of stores and inns on the CT web site resupply page - but its hard to know which ones make the best sense in terms of easy walks or easy hitches, hours available and selection (for the stores).
I guess what I would hope for is info on four variables, 1) directions for access, 2) ease of access, 3) days/hours available, 4) selection/stock. If the Data books doesn't have all that, I may order one or both anyways - but will probably start researching and trying to pick people's brains for whatever extra info UI need.

Hi Pedxing The databook is a general guide giving mainly mileages between the different trails, water sources and camping areas. It is best used with a set of our maps. Going north to south, there are few resupply points. The first is Young's store in Pittsburg, (about 20 miles or less from your starting point). The next would be in Jefferson, NH (90 miles from Young's store). The best thing to do is place supply caches along the way. View our website for establishments that will accept them. Not really sure where you will be leaving the CT, but assume somewhere in the Twin Mountain area. You would most likely pick up the AT at that point over to Franconia Notch and over into VT. Hope this helps. Feel free to email us cohos@cohostrail.org if you have any further questions. We are always more than willing to help out a hiker on the CT. Ridgerunner

Thanks Ridgerunner. I have the maps and have ordered the databooks and guide. My thought is to work out which of those places that will hold supplies are closest to the trail and which break up the trail into the right portions for me. I've gone 100 miles between resupplies before - but am happier with about 40 to 70 - which would mean two or three stops - though one very near the middle could work.
Right now, I'm thinking of trying to do the Cohos from Canada to the end at Rt. 302 and then take Nancy Pond into the Pemi and Osseo trail up to Franconia Ridge and continue south on the AT from the Ridge. I'm not sure how much time I can get off from work and responsibilities - or how fast I'll go.

I purchased the S-N databook. But I notice that they are also available on the website. This was convenient for me- as I would like to add my own notes to the databook. However, after attempting to find some way to convert the Lotus files to a format I could read with no success, I have manually inputted the S-N databook into an xls file.
On the site it also says, "We will try and get it formatted in such a way that everyone can view it. "
I can give you the xls file I created. Let me know.

That would be great if you could do that Paul. We have Lotus Smart Suite, which was on the old computer, but when we transferred it to this one, some of it's features no longer work. Tried to convert the file to HTML, but it crashed everytime we attempted. The basic parts of Smart Suite still work though. Thanks again for your offer!

what is the difference between the bootleg data book and the regular south to north data book? I purchased the latter. Hopefully I ordered the right one.

And someone may want to double check it:)

Send it to cohos@cohostrail.org or prospmw@localnet.com That's if the file is not overly large. We are still on dial-up in this neck of the woods. (21.6kbs) You can also mail it to: The Cohos Trail Association 266 Danforth Rd Pittsburg, NH 03592 Once again, thanks and we will definetly proof it before posting it. Ridgerunner

Hey everyone. I was able to convert the lotus file to an xls file. You can download it from here drop.io/cohosdatabookI noticed its oriented for southbound hikers, does the databook also exists for northbound hikers? - Adam
