8-)The Great Cohos Trail Get-Together far surpassed our expectations! Guests from various New Hampshire towns showed up as well as people from Sherbrooke Quebec and Portland Maine. Some opted to stay in the lodge while others braved the elements, sleeping outside in tents. The weather coorperated somewhat with only an occasional shower here and there.
Four residents of Colebrook joined Kim Nilsen and crew for the hike up to Table Rock and Ridgerunner led seven up the Ben Young Hill Trail Saturday morning.
Special thanks to Roger and Linda Glew from the
www.sportman.com(Sportsman's Lodge and Cabins) on Big Diamond Pond in Stewartstown, NH for hosting our event. They've supported The Cohos Trail from it's inception and they're a fine example of A1-hospitality in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire!
The Folk Tree from Colebrook, NH entertained us Saturday evening and it was awesome looking out across at the band and seeing the party boats out on the water from neighboring camps enjoying the music too. Several local people brought lawn chairs and came to enjoy Charlie Jordan, Mark Hanlon, Bobie Bunnell, Michele Johnsen & Tommy Jordan (The Folk Tree) run off tunes from the 60's and 70's... We're still singing 'Ghost Riders in the Sky'!
Special thanks to Debbie Marshall, Jeanine Kinney, Ellen Kolb and Linda Glew for their help in the kitchen and to our three BBQ chefs, Bob Paradis, Yvan Guay and Kim Nilsen who flipped burgers with great expertise!
Thanks to Gladys and Doug Beattie for the homemade donuts-Yvan Guay for the massive tent- Dennis Thompson for the chairs and additional tents- Bob Paradis for the cake, salad & picnic table. Roger Glew for the volleyball set and fixing our dilapated picnic table and to all the others that gave donations and helped to set up. It was truly a joint venture with everyone pitching in to help one another! I swell with pride to think of the tight-knit group we became. I felt like I've known these people all of my life! Thanks also to Andy O'Brien, Dave Mills, Scott Grzyb and Cory Gilbert for helping to set up and tear down along with the others mentioned before! What a great weekend!
