Just spent the last day working the Bald Mountain Trail of the CT and the Rowells Link up from Percy Road in Stark some five miles to the Jimmy Cole Brook Road (old logging tote road).
The trail has been clipped, most blowdowns removed (at least those that could be removed by hand and hand tools). New signage has been put in place, too, to help hikers along the route.
Right now those trails and its bridge over Rowells Brook are in reasonable condition. However, there is a short wallow created by illegal ATV use in one spot and it takes a bit of work to get around. The bridge is sound and will be for three years, I think, but the surface planks are beginning to spout moss and the deck can be slippery.
There are two blowdowns that are belly-button high but can be gotten around without undue trouble. They will be taken out next spring.
On the Nash Stream Road, there are two short way-paths off the main traveled dirt road. These were clippped. On has a substantial blowdown across it now. I took off the branches so that it is not nasty getting through there.
