Our new lean-to -- Old Hermit Shelter -- on Sugarloaf Arm (Sugarloaf Arm Trail) is open to the public. The composting latrine at the site is fully operable.
There is good water nearby and a big glacial erratic boulder with a tunnel through it can be explored.
Joe Richardson of Boston and John Richardson of Nashua were the first individuals to stay at the shelter.
The lean-to was built by 20 volunteers on the long weekend of June 15-17.

A Great group of volunteers worked hard to build a most glorious structure on the arm of Sugarloaf and it will be enjoyed for years to come....as for the elusive Glacial exotic. That "Keyhole Boulder can be found by taking the "Water" Trail and heading almost due north(not magnetic) .2 miles Look for the big rock!
