Construction of the big wind turbine towers is well underway on Dixville Peak.
At the base of the mountain in Kelsey Notch, the yellow blazing has been obliterated by the construction of a wider access lane up the mountain. If traveling southbound from the summit, turn right at the T-junction on the bottom and head toward the Kelsey Notch Trail less than a mile away and Baldhead lean-to.
If traveling northbound in Kelsey Notch, cross the bridge over a branch of Cold Stream, climb the pitch and reach the big junction. Turn right uphill on the newly widened road.
The summit has been largely cleared and seven towers are on the rise now. Walk over the summit and pick up the old fire lane on the north side.
Fairly soon, a new bypass trail will be built to the west that will bypass the upper section of the mountain altogether. The bypass will be a woods path for hiking, so it should greatly improve the experience moving over Dixville Peak.
