Noble Reliable Energy has laid out a new foot trail bypass of the summit of Dixville Peak and will build the new trail soon on behalf of the Cohos Trail Association.
The new mile-long path will bypass the summit slog and create a forest trail away from the old service road that goes over the summit. That will be a big improvement and it will take hikers away from the big wind turbine towers that will be erected there over the next year.
The new trail won't eliminate the view on the south side of the peak. That grand vista will still be available for hikers. So, life is good!
