There are six or seven blowdowns in the Baldhead to Kelsey Notch area. We will cut those out of there in late September.
Heavy construction is underway on Dixville Peak, where wind turbine towers will be erected. A bypass trail is being proposed for hikers and snowmobilers. We're not quite sure at this time when that trail will be developed.
New bog bridges have been installed on the east end of the new Covell Mt. Trail above Round Pond in Pittsburg.
The Black Cat Trail has been given the go ahead. We will cut that trail within the next six weeks. That will complete the Cohos Trail end to end.
The Deer Mt. Trail restoration project will see additional flagging installed in September, so the old route up the mountain to the still-standing firetower steel can be bushwhacked easily. We will likely cut that trail in late spring of next year.
The Old Summer Club Trail is clear of blowdowns and well clipped now. The East Side Trail around Nash Bog is in great condition, best ever. The Col. Whipple Trail in Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge has been weedwhacked and nearly 500 feet of puncheon spans installed. The Sanguinary Ridge Trail has had a substantial rebuild on its west end. The Three Brothers Trail has been improved a great deal, as well. The connector between the Balsams Wilderness ski area and Dixville Peak service lane has been clipped and ditched a bit.
The Moose Alley Trail is getting some moist areas firmed up now. That trail has been adopted and the adopters are doing a fine job in there. The Falls in the River Trail is clean and wide open. The bridge has been raised one foot higher above Big Brook.
The Sugarloaf Arm has been reblazed. The camp site is now marked. It will get lean-to foundation work shortly and the new shelter will be erected at the end of September.
