Miles of trail are and will be undergoing restoration work this summer. The Percy Loop has gotten extensive drainage work. The five-mile loop at Dixville Notch will be heavily rebuilt. The one-mile approach to Gadwah Notch will get substantial attention, too. The East Side Trail is undergoing a big reworking thanks to two trail adopters. The Col. Whipple Trail gets 60 planks for new puncheon spans plus a heavy brushout in the raspberry thickets. The connector between Dixville Peak fire lane and the Balsams Wilderness Ski Area will get a facelift and new blazing shortly. Blowdowns will be removed soon from the Old Summer Club Trail and north of Gadwah Notch. The Lake Francis Trail has been mowed most of the way through, as has the route up to Young's Store in Pittsburg. So lots going on. Thru-hikers are finding the trail in pretty good shape, and its only going to get better.
