Hey, don't just climb the old Percy Peaks Trail up to the summit of North Percy and come down the same way. Be sure to do the loop hike. Here's how.
At Mile 3 is the parking spot on the Nash Stream Road for the Percy Peaks Trail. But at Mile 4 there is a pullout on the right for the Percy Loop path. Go to Mile 4 and park. Climb the Percy Loop up the north flank of the mountain. Half way up is the Percy Loop Camp site, a nice place to have a snack or lunch. Reach the Percy Peaks Trail high on the mountain and go to the summit.
On the way down, go down the Percy Peaks Trail to the Nash Stream Road. Once there, turn right (north) and walk a mile back to your car.
That's one heck of a nice hike, much better than just running up and down the same trail. The terrain along the Percy Loop is truly beautiful, one of the best woods walks there is in the North Country.
