I recently discovered by accident that the Deer Mountain firetower (near the Canadian line) steel superstructure is still standing, minus the stairs and watchman's cab.
I came across a photo on the web take a few years ago, and, sure enough, the framework is still in place.
If we can get the old access trail to the 3010 foot summit open this year or next, it would be great to visit the old site of the tower and have a good look at it, not that we could ever do anything with it.
But it is an interesting resource, and it would be something if the tower could eventually be restored so folks could take in the magnificient view of Vermont, NH, Maine, and Quebec that the tower once provided.
