More to report. Work is underway on the northeastern segment of the Mt. Prospect Trail from the northeast base of the summit through the Ramblewood Cabins and Campground. Shortly, this trail with its superb views into Canada and Maine will open to the public, allowing folks to hike from the Lake Francis area to Mountain Bungalow hut to the open summit of Mt. Prospect and down and through to Ramblewood Cabins and Campground.
The Round Pond Brook Trail is just days away from formally opening.
The Camp Otter Trail will likely open in August, and work will begin on the Mt. Covell Trail in August, as well. So once we get those pathways complete, people will be able to get off Route three all the way from Young's Store at Happy Corner all the way to the access road to Second Lake boat launch. That would leave only about two miles of road walking along Route 3 remaining in the Cohos Trail system in the north. And we hope to be able to brush that out before snow flies.
It is looking very good for the completion of the Cohos Trail in the far north. This section will be one of the more delightful ones in the whole system.
