New pathways in the far north will be opening in fairly quick succession in the weeks ahead. Right now, the two-mile Moose Alley Trail has been completely cleaned out and blazes installed. Some small moist areas have been firmed up, rock steps installed on the west end, and the trail will get its new raised-letter signage in short order. We will announce its formal opening for the new hiking season probably within days, so check with this website and this forum in a week or so. Work has also begun on the Falls in the River Trail, which will be, when completed, one of the gems in the region. Fifteen miles of new trail will come on line, so if you wish to hike in the far north, keep checking in with with this site: www.cohostrail.org. The work will eventually eliminate a long road walk along Route 3. We recently received a $2,500 grant from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to get the work underway earlier than we anticipated. We are expecting funds from several other sources, as well. percypeaks

Percypeaks is correct. The Moose Alley Trail is all ready for hiking. Today, we opened up the Idlewild Spur Trail. It is clear and can be hiked easily. Mtngoat will go back in and sign and blaze it, as well as do any finish work that it needs. We have also begun work on the Falls in the River Trail and hope to have that done soon. Pictures can be seen in the 2010 trail work photo album.
Hope to see you on the trail.
