Work has begun on the trails in Pittsburg. Most of the snow is gone, but there is still a lot of water on the ground. Mtngoat went in and cleared the Camp Otter Trail from the Magalloway Rd to the snowmobile bridge where the bog bridging will start. She also put in some stone steps on the steep section going up onto Magalloway Rd. Here are a couple of pictures. This first picture shows the area where the bog bridging will start. This picture is of the cleared Camp Otter Trail. A couple of days later, Mtngoat and I went to the 2nd Lake Dam and began clearing the Falls in the River Trail. Here is a picture of that future trail. Anyone interested in helping us, please call at 603-538-6777 or email us at cohos@cohostrail.org. We will be out on most days where the weather is favorable. Hope to see you on the trail!!

I remember flagging the very muddy & overgrown Camp Otter segment with MtnGoat last summer. Looking forward to seeing the "finished" project next time I'm up there.

The Moose Alley Trail is open and ready to hike.
The Falls in the River Trail is open. The bridge should be in in a matter of days!! This trail is well worth hiking.
The Camp Otter Trail bog bridging is mostly in. Things are quite wet in there right now so we found out that we need more bog bridging which will be in shortly. You can get through there now though with out getting wet if you pick your way through.
We will be working the Round Pond Brook Trail tomorrow (5 June). Hopefully, that will be open very soon.

There was much work done on the trails this week. Kim and Chad put in over 300 feet of bog bridging on the Camp Otter Trail. We still need about 500 more feet there.
Kim, Chad, Lainie and I put in two spans of bog bridging on the Falls in the River Trail on Friday. We then put in another span on the Falls in the River Trail today for our National Trails Day Event. There were 7 of us out for that event!!
The Falls in the River Trail now has all bog bridging in place. All that is left is the bridge over Big Brook which should be in within the week.
Pictures will be posted in the new photo album.

Just an update on the trails up here. The bridge trusses are in place over Big Brook on the Falls in the River Trail. We now need to plank it. It can be crossed now without getting wet if you use a little care. The Round Pond Brook Trail is about 2/3 complete. Should be open in another week or so. Have been seeing deer, partridge, redtailed hawks and lots of moose sign on this trail.

The bridge is finished over Big Brook!!! Will post pictures as soon as we can. Also, the grass is mowed on the Minon/Young Trail, River Road Trail and 1/3 of the Lake Francis Trail. The Round Pond Brook Trail is about 2/3s cut, still a lot of work to do there. Any volunteers??
