We have received word that we will be the recipient of a gift of $600 for use at the site of Kamp Kirk in the Nash Stream Forest.
The funds will be utilized to create a large shed/lean-to just uphill from the camp itself, provided we get the final go ahead from the Division of Forest and Lands.
Creating a lean-to with some storage space alongside will make it possible not only for hikers to stay near the Cohos Trail while deep in the Nash Stream Forest, but it will also allow us to store materials and house volunteers if and when we are able to commense with the major work on the large two-story camp.
If you could donate a few dollars or materials to the cause of constructing the lean-to that would be terrific. We have on hand some long telephone poles (for pole-barn like construction), five sheets of green metal roofing, and a few timbers, but we could use 2x4s, 2x6s and 2x8s, boards for siding, and three or four additional 10-foot sheets of green metal roofing.
I have enough boards (maple) to donate to close in much of the west wall, I think, but we could use a few dozen more. I have a number of unframed fixed windows (in great shape), as well, that could be utilized to reduce the amount of siding necessary.
If you would like to donate materials, please call 603-538-6777 in the North Country or 603-363-8902 in southern NH. If you would like to send in $5.00, $10.00 or $10 million, send your donation to The Cohos Trail Association-lean-to, 266 Danforth Road, Pittsburg, NH 03592.
Thanks a cool million.
