Here's a thought about getting together this summer.
We hold a three-day Rendezvous in August (driest month of the year) in the Nash Stream Forest. Kamp Kirk becomes the focal point for a series of events. We invite the whole world for a "Get to Know the Cohos Trail" long weekend.
We could hold several guided hikes, one up Mt. Sugarloaf (half a mile drive from Kamp Kirk), a very short hike to Pond Brook Falls, a hike up the Percy Loop trail to the campsite and to the summit of North and even South Percy, and perhaps a five miler around Nash Bog.
The events could coincide with a volunteer work day up in Gadwah Notch. We could ask to get the Headwaters gate open and could drive up into Muise Bowl. From there we could clip and clean two to three miles of trail and then come back down. Or a few hardy souls could continue on to Baldhead lean-to to spend the night.
We could budget a couple of $100 for a big free feed at night and a big free breakfast in the morning. Play guitars. Sing. Have a little wine and beer. Have a hiker horror story fest in the evening.
