Hey,
Thinking about a 2+ day section hike from Rt. 2 to Rt. 110. Short walk to Starr King summit to camp, then a longish day to Unknown Pond. Crazy, huh? I've stayed at the cabin before, so that's not so exciting.

You certainly can make the trek from Starr King to Unknown Pond in a day, if you go all day.
Why not climb Starr King and keep going to Middle Weeks or Mt. Weeks. There are unofficial camp sites on each. You'll have the spots to yourself, no doubt. Starr King has more traffic.
I love the cabin when I hit it when no one is about. Snowshoe rabbit live beneath it. They come out a dusk and dawn. Nice to see them.
At the cabin, you can get up very early and then trek to The Horn by sunrise. It's one of the finer unknown summits in the Whites, and you'll have it all to yourself.
You might hit snow this time of year, however.
