Mtngoat, Magic and I spent nine hours out on the Lake Francis Trail today fighting off the deer flies and weedwacking the trail. There is probably a quarter mile section of trail around the 6 mile view that was not gotten to. That section is not in bad condition though. We will get back out to finish it. Grasses in some areas were over our heads!!!
We are working at it!!!!

The tall grass is gone, trail is manicured 3 feet wide, and such a complete delight to be on. Thanks to goat2 for actually dragging a lawnmower up & down some good steep hills for more than a mile. Yes, no misprint, I mean dragging a lawnmower and manicuring the trail for your pleasure.
Send all compliments to her and ridgerunner, as in "What a tremendous job! Best trail I've ever been on anywhere" Send complaints to me! Always send your suggestions, ideas, compliments, to us!
Ask any questions you may. Enjoy your section or thru hike. And Happy Trails to you!

I was on the Lake Francis trail northbound on August 10th on a very rainy, muddy day. Without the weed-whacking, I would have thrown up my hands & just headed for the lake to swim to the state park. Could have gotten real ugly, with the pack & all. ;-) Many thanks.

Thank you for the input flatlander! Lainie, Pete and I spend a whole day whacking the grass. Lainie dragged a lawnmower up and down those big hills for more than 2 miles. We owe her many thanks ... and a night on the town!
We call it dedication. And hard work. Thank you Lainie. And prez Pete. Thank You so very much!
