Hello from the CT,
One of the finest features on the proposed new trails in the far north is Big Brook Bog. If we can put in the trails we propose this summer, you will be able to reach within half a mile or so of Big Brook Bog. It is one of the more beautiful small bodies of water in all New Hampshire, in my book.
The proposed trail will reach Big Brook Bog road about half a mile east (below) the bog. Once you reach the road, turn uphill (northwest) and walk an easily rise along the dirt road up to the bog.
Last year the dam was replaced and the bog refilled with water. It sits in a basin surrounded by the Corkscrew Hills. There is but one single camp on its shores. In good weater, it is one of the more delightful places to enjoy a snack or lunch.
The view across the broad sheet of water is very pleasant indeed.
It is a lonesome spot. A few anglers may come in to fish, but usually you'll be by yourself here. I always make a point of coming up to the bog when I'm this far north in the headwaters country. It's a fine place to quiet the soul and enjoy life in a fine natural setting.
