We had hoped that the dam area of the Clarksville Bog would be fixed this summer but due to the enormity of the project and the lack of time, the landowner has been unable to get to it. The by-pass created and posted on Updated Updates must have been missed by several people and they have found themselves wading through a foot of water to get to the trail on the other side. MtnGoat trudged out through yesterday, taking down old signs and putting up yellow-topped grade stakes so that the way is easily followed now. For those going Northbound, there's an arrow at the junction (at the boardpile) after leaving the Grandview Snack Shack belonging to the Weir's Tree Farm. Don't follow the orange blazing to the right. This dead-ends at a sawmill. Bear left at this junction! Follow this woods road down to the next junction but stay straight instead of taking the left. (CT sign on gatepost) This is the by-pass. At the next junction, take a sharp left (two yellow-topped grade stakes marking the way). This takes you into the field to the right of Clarksville Bog and to the far gate through the center of the field onto Ferguson Rd. This by-pass can be mucky in areas but is a lot drier than the dam area (No pun intended!).
