We spent the weekend on the Gadwah Notch Trail, East Side Trail and the Percy Trail. The trails are now in fine shape. We removed many blow downs, opened drainage ditches, clipped brush, put up signs, etc.. I would like to take the time here to thank Sam Farrington (trail adopter for the East Side Trail) for the fine work we found in that section. The trail was well blazed and cleared. Thanks Sam!!!! See you on the trail

Lots of trail work in and around Nash Stream Road has been completed already this year. Much more to do. I've weed whacked some miles of the trail headed to Gadwah Notch. Ran out of gasoline or it would be completed right to the shelter. Helpers are needed, please get in touch. Thank you!
East Side Trail is constantly maintained. The Percy Peaks Trail was hiked by Kim & me yesterday and is consistently maintained by many years of dedicated, hard work from Yvan. Kudos and many thanks Yvan! This trail looks, walks, just feels wonderful. A well built, huge tent platform and a bullet proof composting toilet has been recently added and most importantly, USFS inspected and approved!
Kim & I started to gps & blaze a new trail in the forest paralleling Nash Stream Road -- to eliminate the long road walk. We've the scratches and waypoints to prove it! The coordinates have to be sent to the USFS and the state, 2 different agencies must walk the bushwhack, and approve of it in writing. Now I know first hand why this trail takes years to finish. Then hard working folks like Pete, Lainie, Kim, me & you, get to spend many days in the forest, cutting the new trail, ridding the boulders, brush & trees, adding drainage, and the like. All this so the hikers of the future can enjoy the true Cohos Trail experience.
AND Another shelter, leased to TCTA, right in the middle of Nash Stream, should be open to Cohos Trail hikers next year. Yes, a work always in progress and it's getting better all the time. Woo-Hoo!
