Hi everyone!! We are going to begin putting in the bog bridging on the the Camp Otter Trail this coming weekend. We could use as many volunteers as we can get to get this done. There is a total of about 250 feet of bog bridging plus repairs to the snowmoble bridge that need to be done. We hauled some of the material in yesterday by tractor and the rest will go in on Saturday. The work required will be hauling material and pounding nails. This will be the weekend of the 21st and 22nd. The Mountain Bungalow will be available if anyone needs a place to stay. We are hoping to have all new trail in place from Camp Otter to the Idlewild Road. If anyone can help us, please email us at cohos@cohostrail.org or call us at 603 538-6777 Your help would be greatly appreciated. Ridgerunner

Hay there friends! Ohh yeah! ... That's my keep of fun! And ghostdog's too! Yes, the two of us would enjoy hauling logs, and pounding on some spikes. Ghostdog Needs the Practice! I would like to donate a few of the "Best Pizza of All Time!" for our great volunteers on Saturday Night. And you have a comfortable place to stay with cheerful fellowship. You can Depend on us about an hour before sunset. We are itching to go up to the Mtn and catch the beautiful sunset! See you soon. Wishing All Many Miles & Lots of Smiles!

:-[This ended up being a rather non-productive weekend. With the rain on Friday and drizzle on Saturday, we were unable to move the material in place so that we could begin doing the bog bridging. We are hoping that we can do it possibly this coming weekend. We are going to make every effort we can to get it in before snow flies. Thank you Magic for showing up. Just wish we could have been able to do the work!!

High Water from days of rain kept us from delivering materials with a tractor Saturday from the north end of the trail at the 230 mile mark from the MA border down the Magalloway Road where log rounds & 3" thick x 10" wide x 10' long materials were stocked. Yesterday, the fellow w/the key to the local snowmobile club said he was to do an errand, open the storage building so a few locals could use utility trailers, and we'd haul the stock. We were then to drive some miles around a logging road off Rte 3 on atv's w/the stock.
We hung around waiting for hours and the man never arrived. I choose to return home home some 75 miles yesterday afternoon until the log rounds, 3" thick planks, 8"spikes, & etc were stocked as close to building the bog bridge as possible. I was emailed that he developed the flu and went directly to bed.
What was most pleasant and adventurous, was hiking up to view sunrises/sunsets on the east, west, & south facing open summit of Prospect Mtn, looking at the lovely Lake Francis & the First Connecticut Lake (there are 4 CT Lakes, the 4th is the headwaters of the 405 mile CT River) in the warm day light and the strong hikes up the mtn observing the billions of bright stars at night. Also delightful these past days were the pure enjoyment of the wonderful home cooked meals at my friends' home, staying warm and cozy & most comfortable each night in their Mtn Bungalow, watching many new trail signs being created & painted, hiking sections of the Cohos Trail, and the fantastic fellowship spent with friends in the northern forest. When you are ready to "get 'er done," just send me a email & we'll be there. Have a Happy Week!

Ponder how much time would be saved if the planks were driven to your house ridgerunner, a hole drilled for the shaft of the spike, and returned to the site. Verses beating the daylights out of each separate, individual spike until one's arms fall off. Something to think about while we anxiously wait for Spring to arrive and get this wonderful section completed.
