The last work of the season is getting underway now, the first week of November. We can always use a helping hand.
We have several terrific projects to complete in the same location on the soon-to-open Camp Otter Trail. In the Coon Brook area, we are installing about 200 feet of puncheon bridge spans (planks and mud sills) across a moist area south of Coon Brook. We are also improving the existing bridge over Coon Brook, adding some new planking and railing to the structure.
Once those structure projects are complete, all we have to do is clean up the eastern end of the trail (short distance), blaze it, sign it, cut just a few ditches, and then open it.
We would be grateful if you would call Lainie and Pete Castine at 538-6777 and offer to lend a hand on the structures. The work consists in moving planks and log rounds (mud sills) and spiking them together, and driving nails and sawing a few boards for Coon Brook bridge.

Sounds like a tremendous plan to me! Ghostdog & I will arrive Friday the 20th of November, a tad before sunset. We'll share some of those spectacular views from the mountain as the sun rises. We will share a glorious day of trail work, dinner, then some much needed rest, and arise early in the morning. The Way Mountain Life Should Be. See you good folks soon!!
